Solcast (“the App”) is a free iOS application that provides personalized weather forecasts, lifestyle indices, and outfit recommendations. Your privacy is fundamental to how we built this app. Here’s exactly how your information is handled.
The Short Version
- We collect no personal data — no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no ads.
- Your location is used only to fetch weather and is never stored on any server.
- All recommendations are computed entirely on your device.
- You can delete all local data at any time by removing the app.
Data We Collect
None. The App has no user accounts, no analytics SDKs, no advertising frameworks, and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
How the App Uses Data on Your Device
Location Data
The App uses your device’s location solely to retrieve weather forecasts for your area. Location coordinates are sent only to the weather services listed below. Your location is never stored on any server we control.
Saved locations are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted externally except as coordinates in weather data requests.
User Preferences
Your personalized settings (temperature preference, dressing style, sensitivity levels, household members) are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device.
On-Device Processing
All lifestyle index calculations, outfit recommendations, and daily briefings are computed entirely on your device. No personal data or preferences are sent to any server for processing.
Permissions
The App requests one device permission:
- Location (When In Use) — Used to determine your current position and fetch accurate weather, air quality, and pollen data. Your coordinates are sent only to the weather services listed below and are never stored on any server we control.
No other permissions (camera, contacts, microphone, tracking, notifications, etc.) are requested.
Third-Party Services
The App connects to the following services solely to fetch weather and environmental data:

Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties. The only external communication the App makes is sending geographic coordinates to the weather services listed above.
Data Retention and Deletion
Since we do not collect or store any personal data on our servers, there is no user data to retain or delete. All data stored locally on your device (preferences, saved locations, cached forecasts) can be removed at any time by deleting the App.
Your Rights
Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, export, or delete on our end. You have full control over all locally stored data by managing or removing the App from your device.
Children’s Privacy
The App does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no personal data is collected, the App is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
