Privacy Policy

Solcast (“the App”) is a free weather and lifestyle guidance app for iPhone and iPad. Privacy is central to how we built it. This policy explains exactly what data is involved when you use Solcast — and, more importantly, what isn’t.

Your location is used only to request weather data and is never stored on any server we control. All recommendations are computed on your device.
What Data Is Collected
None. Solcast has no user accounts, no analytics platform, no advertising SDK, and no tracking mechanism of any kind. We do not collect, store, or transmit personal information.
How the App Uses Data Locally
Location
When you grant location permission, your coordinates are sent to weather services (listed below) to retrieve forecasts for your area. Your location is never stored on our servers.
Saved locations you add are stored on your device only and are not transmitted anywhere except as coordinates in weather data requests.
Preferences
Your personalization settings (temperature unit, sensitivity levels, dressing style, household options) are stored locally on your device. They never leave your device.
On-Device Processing
All lifestyle indices, outfit recommendations, and daily briefings are computed entirely on your device. No preferences, results, or personal data are sent to any external server for processing.
Temporary Cache
The app keeps a short-lived, in-memory cache of weather data so you can switch between saved locations without waiting for a fresh download. This cache exists only in device memory, is never written to persistent storage, and is cleared when the app is closed.
Permissions
Solcast requests one permission:

No other permissions are requested — not camera, contacts, microphone, notifications, tracking, or anything else.
Third-Party Services
The app connects to the following services to fetch weather and environmental data:

No personal data, device identifiers, advertising IDs, or user preferences are ever sent to these services.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, license, or share your data with anyone. The only network traffic the app generates is fetching weather data (coordinates) and holiday data (country code) from the services listed above.
Data Retention & Deletion
We store no data on our servers, so there is nothing to retain or delete. All information on your device (preferences, saved locations, cached weather) is removed the moment you delete the app.
Your Rights
Because we collect nothing, there is no personal data to access, correct, port, or erase on our end. You have complete control over everything stored locally by managing or removing the app.
Children’s Privacy
Solcast does not collect information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Because no personal data is gathered, the app is safe for users of all ages.
International Users
Because Solcast collects no personal data, no cross-border transfer of personal information occurs. Weather and holiday requests contain only geographic coordinates or country codes — no personal data or device identifiers are included regardless of your location.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
