Getting Started

How does color extraction work?

Huepick analyzes your photo on-device to identify up to 12 dominant colors. All image processing happens locally and your photos are never uploaded anywhere.

Do I need an internet connection?

Color extraction, palette generation, saving, and editing all work offline. The only feature that uses an internet connection is displaying the location name on saved palettes (if your photo contains location data). This is optional.

Is Huepick free?

Yes, completely free with no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no ads.

How do I copy a hex code?

Tap any color swatch in a palette to copy its hex code to your clipboard. A checkmark confirms the copy.

Can I create a custom palette?

Yes. After extracting colors from a photo, tap “Create Custom Palette” on the Palettes screen. You can pick from your extracted colors, add custom colors using the color picker, or start from a recommended scenario palette and adjust it.

Where is my data stored?

All saved palettes are stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to external servers.

How do I delete or pin palettes?

To delete a palette, swipe left on it in the Gallery. You’ll be asked to confirm. To keep a palette easily accessible, pin it so it stays at the top of your Gallery.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your photos never leave your device and no personal data is collected. See our full Privacy Policy for details.

Troubleshooting

The camera isn’t working

Open Settings, then navigate to Huepick and make sure Camera access is toggled on. If the issue persists, try force-closing and reopening the app.

Colors don’t look accurate

Color extraction works best with clear, well-lit photos. Try better lighting (natural light is ideal), a different angle, or avoid very dark or very bright images which may produce less distinct colors.

The app is crashing

Make sure you’re running the latest version from the App Store, then restart your device. If the problem continues, please contact us below.

Huepick requires iOS 18.6 or later and runs on both iPhone and iPad.
